Natalie Portman who recently won a Golden Globe for Best Performance as an Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama for her role in Black Swan is appearing in the latest US edition of Vogue January 2011.
During the photo shoot in an exclusive interview Natalie talks about trying to overturn her good-girl image and the relentless training for her latest movie Black Swan.
Vogue features actress Natalie Portman in an angelic Black Swan-inspired fashion story photographed with stunning visual effects by Peter Lindbergh. The January cover shoot is Natalie’s sixth Vogue cover over the last decade.
Natalie was photographed wearing a J Mendell hand pleated silk chiffon dress in dance-inspired style drawn from her popular performance in the new film Black Swan.
Black Swan is a lurid fable about growing up. As Nina in Darren Aronofsky’s ballet saga Black Swan, she transforms herself from shy innocent young girl to powerful wild and emotional woman. The dancers in Nina’s ballet company compete for the attention of the choreographer. He casts the rookie, anorexic Nina to star as Odette/Odile, the white swan and the black swan in the production of Swan Lake, she must literally break through her body and lose her mind to be reborn as an artist. Nina is a devoted workaholic absorbed with too much practice and regular vomiting. Her one goal is to be perfect.
“The only way to be perfect,” says Black Swan director, Aronofsky, “is to allow chaos and madness into your life. Natalie has very few opportunities to express the dangerous side of her, and there’s a lot of colors there. She teases; she’s playful and sexy and so beautiful it hurts.”
Natalie’s view on Black Swan sex scenes: “Lesbian scenes, sex scenes, they’re all over the place! But because it’s me, people are shocked. I see the value of a good girl persona. It’s so easy to subvert it!”
