Elle MacPherson appeared on the catwalk when Virgin Blue reveals new uniforms inside Sydney’s Westfield Pitt St. The former supermodel had a strut down the catwalk with 60 Virgin cabin crew and flight staff.
The 47-year-old Elle still looks young for her age and appeared in a pilots uniform complete with pilots cap and sporting a pair of aviators. But we’re not actually here to rate Elle’s uniform. It’s the Virgin girl’s kit that we want to critique.
The new Virgin Blue crew flight uniforms comprise of a blend of red and white with a purple bow. Very simple but strikingly stylish the female cabin crew will appear in red mid length skirt, white or red short sleeve crew neck top and red jacket. Accessries include black shoes and belt, finished off with a large purple bow.
Australian designer and former Project Runway winner Juli Grbac designed the uniforms. In their simplicity they definitely scream out air hostess with a somewhat sixties feel about them. I guess nothing changes too much in the corporate uniform world.
“Richard wanted to be here today but had a skiing accident and couldn’t fly so I’m here holding the floor.”
MacPherson was filling in for Richard Branson, who couldn’t make the trip to Australia because of a injury he received during a skiing accident in Switzerland. Ah its a hard life Sir Richard.
Elle who is currently host and executive producer of TV series The British Next Top Model, travelled from the UK.
“I miss my family and I’m really happy to be back and see them,” Macpherson said as her voice quivered, “… particularly my Dad, who is unwell.”
Her sick father, businessman Peter Gow, recently had surgery for prostate cancer. He has said that the doctors at St Vincent’s have now given him the all-clear. Which will be great news for Elle.
Elle did a short interview then later appeared at the Myer city store to launch a new range of Bendon underwear. Now that’s one parade I’d love to rate. Let me fond some pics first. Stay tuned.
Anyway, I rate the Virgin Blue girl’s uniforms 5 stars.
Now up, up, and away.
